At the time of your consultation you will:
- Fill our necessary forms so we can learn about your previous dental and medical history.
- Diagnostic x-rays
- Check for gum disease: Examination of the gums and bone around the teeth to find any signs of periodontal disease. Periodontal disease is the number one cause of tooth loss. A small dental instrument called a periodontal probe is used to measure the space (sulcus) between the teeth and gums. In advanced stages of Periodontitis, the teeth lose their strong anchoring. As the gums, bone and other supporting ligaments are destroyed by periodontal disease, the affected teeth will start to become loose and may even fall out. Bone loss at this stage can be anywhere from moderate to severe.
